Notes for MOSES Sr. KELLAM:
As a young man, Moses resided in Goshen, NY. before moving back into the Wallenpaupack Settlement. There he was active, becoming well known in business, political circles. He served for some years as the Justice of the Peace, later taken on by his son, Moses. Until the organization of Pike Co., (1814) he was a time agent under Coldwater of Philadelphia for the sale of the unsettled portions of the manor of W-P as seen from the recital of deeds on his return to W-P. In 1783 he took charge of the business, where lands were surveyed 1805, lot # 6 was surveyed for him. He built a saw and grist mill on the Mill Brook.

Moses was a Revolutionary Soldier, fighting with the Orange Co., Militia, taking part in (among others) the Battle of Lackawaxen/Minisink, 22 July 1779, when he was 20 yrs. old. He blamed the Officers for forcing the men into unequal contest with Brant's forces, which consisted of 400-500 Indians and Tories. Moses was slightly wounded. His pension was used for DAR membership, original application # 102701. He's buried in Old Paupack Cemetery, tombstone says he was 72.

Sources: "Minors History of Wyoming", p. 774. Wyoming has reference to the Wyoming Valley of NE Pa which was claimed by Connecticut at one time. Census, 1830, Kellem, Moses County/State: Pike Co., PA Palmyra Twp Page #: 023

Notes for MARY (POLLY) KING:
Mary's (Polly) tombstone reads she was 69 years old when she died, putting her age at the time of her marriage abt 32, rather late. The family descendant records give her year of birth as between 1755-1759, which seems more reasonable.

PAUPACK CEMETERY
Palmyra, Pike, Pennsylvania

The Cemetery is located SW of State Route 507 near the intersection of Gumbletown Road in Palmyra Twp, Pike Co. PA. A narrow road, bordered by stonewalls leads the way into the quiet, secluded cemtery which was the burying gound for settlers prior to 1800. Zadoch Killam asked that a pine tree be planted to mark his grave. Today, more than two-hundred years later, the Killam pine towers over the rows of graves. In 1877, the Paupack Cemetery Association set up a larger area for burial. A large Potter's Field was located in the northeast end of the cemetery. The cemetery remains an active cemetery today
