Richard was born 28 November 1739 in Lyme, New London, Connecticut and married first 1 May 1764, in Lyme, New London, Connecticut, Lucy GRISWOLD the daughter of Thomas GRISWOLD and Susannah LYNDE. She was born 17 October 1745 in Lyme, New London, Connecticut, and died 25 November in Lyme, New London, Connecticut. They had 16 Children including a set of Triplets which were born and died the same day listed below as triplets with date of birth and death. Her name is also listed in the records as Lucia.
Richard married second, Mary LAY, the widow of Jesse James WOOD, 27 April 1801, in Lyme, New London, Connecticut. There were no children from this marriage and I have no further information on Mary. Richard died 16 June 1810 in Vermont.

NOTE this gives a good account of the ancestory of both Richard WAITE and Lucy GRISWOLD who were 3rd Cousins. as can be seen from this naritave from the above Family History.
VI. Lucy GRISWOLD (2108), born at Lyme, Connecticut, 7 October 1745, second daughter of Thomas GRISWOLD (491) and Susannah LYNDE, was a great granddaughter of Phebe HYDE (10) of the third generation. She married 1 May 1764, her father's second cousin of the GRISWOLD blood, Richard WAITE born 28 November 1739, at Lyme, The eldest son of Richard WAITE Esquire, of Lyme, by his first wife Elizabeth MARVIN, daughter of Samuel MARVIN and Susannah GRAHM, and grand son of Thomas WAITE and Mary BRONSON.
[ This Thomas WAITE, born 7 March 1678 The second son of Thomas WAITE of Sudbury Massachusetts, Born 3 Mar 1642, at Watertown and grandson of Richard WAITE of Watertown, and married 26 August 1704 Mary BRONSON born 21 March 1681, at Lyme, third daughter of Abraham BRONSON, the first of Lyme, and Hannah GRISWOLD, and granddaughter of Matthew GRISWOLD, the first of Lyme, and Ann WOLCOTT. He died 22 June 1725 at Lyme, where she died 7 May 1731. They had eleven children seven of whom died unmarried.
The other four were:
1 Thomas, born 9 October 1706, married Elizabeth LEWIS.
2 Richard, born 11 June 1711, married Elizabeth Marvin who died 27 May 1755, and had by her ten children; He then married Rebecca HIGGINS who died 17 May 1785, and had by her three children, was a justice of the peace at Lyme and died 29 December 1790.
3 Joseph, born 25 November 1715, who married Margaret BECKWITH.
4 Sarah, born 3 Jul 1717, who married Simon TUBBS of Colchester, and afterwards of Sharon.
Richard WAITE who married Lucy GRISWOLD was a farmer, and they settled at Lyme, where she died 25 November 1795.
