Lynde was born 16 November 1769 in Lyme, New London, Connecticut and married 18 November 1800, in , , Vermont, his third cousin, Lois WAITE, the daughter of Benjamin WAITE and Lois GILBERT. She was born 1 August 1779 in Windsor, Windsor, Vermont.

They settled in Waitsfield, Washington, Vermont where she died in 1848 at the age of 68 years. He died subsequent to 1854 at Antwrep, Jefferson, New York. They had five sons and three daughters.
