James WAITE Sr.
and
Phenice WILDER

James was born 10 Mar 1777 in Lyme, New London, Connecticut the son of Richard WAITE and Lucy Marvin GRISWOLD. He married 24 Jan 1803, in Brattleboro, Windham, Vermont, Phenice WILDER the daughter of Joshua WILDER and Margery DUNSTER. She was born 5 May 1784 in New Fane, Windham, Vermont, and died in London Twp., Monroe, Michigan. Their death dates are unknown and they were both buried on their farm family buriel plot the location of which is unknown today.

James WAITE was the town clerk of Fayston, Chittendon Co., Vermont from its founding in 1804 to 1811 when he moved to Le Roy, Genesee, New York. His brother Lynde WAITE was the moderator of the town counsil and his brother-in-law Joseph WILDER was a member of the town council. All the first inhabitants of Fayston were either WAITE's or related to them. Fayston was a break off of Waitesfield where more of this family lived.

In 1830 the family moved to Monroe Co. Michigan where James died within a few months.

Phenica⁵ WILDER, the eleventh child of Joshua and Margary⁴ (DUNSTER) WILDER, born Wednesday, May 5, 1784, married        , James WAIT. No further record. It is thought she died in Michigan.

   Be it remembered that at Brattleboro in the county aforesaid on the twenty fourth day of January in the Year of our Lord one Thousand Eight hundred & three James WAIT of Fayston, in the County of Chittendon & State of Vermont & Phinice WILDER of Brattleboro in the County of Windham & State of Vermont were duly joined in marriage.
