Johannes SCHAEFFER Georges Grandfather came from Germany and was married at Stone Arabia, Montgomery, New York to Anna Margretha LAUX, and His Children were born at Palatine, Montgomery, New York.
NOTE this is only a couple of miles south of Stone Arabia.
His son Johannes married at Palatine, Montgomery, New York , Dorothy STAMM. Their oldest child was born at Schoharie, Schoharie, New York, and the last four of his children by this wife were born at Sharon Township, Schoharie, New York. Dorothy died here and he married second Maria BEISSER in this place. He had one more child also born in Sharon Township.
George SHEFFER was born in Sharon Township and married his first wife there Hester VAUGHN his two children by this wife were born there and after Hester died the VAUGHNS brought up these two children. He then moved to Sconondoa Creek, Oneida, New York where he met his second wife who worked at a Cotton Mill on Sconondoa Creek. (See above) After their marriage some where in Oneida County They moved to Cicero, Onondaga, New York where she had twins one of which died at the age of nine months. After the death of this son he moved back to Sconondoa where he worked as a Shoemaker for several years it was here his third child was born. He then moved to Vernon, Oneida, New York, where the next two children were born one of which was my gg grandfather Clark M. SHEFFER. George then moved west to Barre, Orleans, New York. After three years and two more children he moved back east to Aruelius, Cayuga, New York where his last three children were chborn. About 1844 or 1845 he moved to Freedom Township, Washtenaw, Michigan.
In 1848 his wife and one daughter belonged to the First Presbyterian Church in Tecumseh, Lenawee, Michigan, (See above map). as at that time they got letters of transfer to the ME Church in Manchester, , Michigan. (See above map), because it was closer to where they lived. He then moved to Clinton, Lenawee, Michigan, and before he died he went to live with his Daughter Mary (SHEFFER) MARLATT, in Cambridge Township, Lenawee, Michigan.

After George's death in 1864 Polly SHEFFER went to live with her son Samuel G. SHEFFER in western Michigan in Casco Township, Allegan, Michigan. Also living in this area are Clark M. SHEFFER living on a farm next to Samuel's and three sisters, two in Casco Township, and one in South Haven, Van Buren, Michigan. (See above map). Polly died in Casco Township in 1880. Clarks Son Woodman my g grandfather was born on the farm in Casco Township he helped his mother run the farm after Clark's death and owned the Bellmont Resorte in South Haven, Van Buren, Michigan. My grandmother Ruby SHEFFER was born on the farm in Casco Township, and my father was born in the Bellmont Resort in South Haven. from these places the descendants of George SHEFFER have scattered all over the United States.
I my self am a Genealogists nightmare as I was born in Detroit, Wayne, Michigan, and married in Cardston, Alberta, Canada, Susan Ellice HANCOCK. My oldest Ellice was born in Royal Oak, Oakland, Michigan, my second Karia was born in Provo, Utah, Utah, My third and first son Steven was born in
Windsor, Ontario, Canada, my fourth child David was born in Avon Center Hospital Rochester, Oakland, Michigan, and my fifth and last child Philip was born in South Haven, Van Buren, Michigan, and I am now living in Mount Vernon, Skagit, Washington 1985 to 1989. Moved back the the Provo, Orem, area of Utah till 1995 when I moved back up to Washington to help take care of my parents. I also have a step daughter Kristen born in Orem, Utah, Utah. (See map of Provo above).
I now live just outside of Roche Harbor on San Juan Island in Puget Sound 1995 to 2000.
after my father died 26 January 2000, in August of this year, I moved back to Provo Orem, area in Utah where I live at the present time March 2007.
