Verlan Jones, 83

ESCONDIDO -- Verlan L. Jones, 83, died Friday, April 18, 2003, at his home.

Born May 20, 1919, in Benton Harbor, Mich., he lived in Escondido since 1974. He was the owner of V.L. Jones Co. for 40 years. He enjoyed ham radio and motorhome traveling.

Mr. Jones is survived by his wife of 62 years, Isabelle Jones of Escondido; daughters and sons-in-law Jacqueline and Philip Mottola of West Hills and Kathryn and Allen Drucker of Newport Beach; brothers and sisters-in-law DeVoe and Beverly Jones of Victorville and Jerry and Janis Jones of Rough and Ready; grandchildren Jenny, Jill, Amanda, Kimberly and Kelly; and two great-grandchildren.

North County Cremation Service in San Marcos is handling arrangements.
