Georg or Jerg STAMM Sr.
and
Maria Magdalena

Georg or Jerg STAMM Sr. was born in Schaffhaussen, Switzerland, and since he and his wife were sponcers at the baptizm of George STAMM'S oldest child Georgius, they probably died in New York. His wife's name is Maria Magdalena.

According to Swiss Genealogy documents (www2.genealogy.net), Jerg (George) Stam emigrated from Schaffhausen, Switzerland in 1751, bound for Caroline. With him he took 4 children; no wife is listed.

Historical Sketches
- Families of some Early Settlers of Madison County -

George Stam came to America, landing in Philadelphia, from the sloop "Ann Galley" Sept. 27, 1746. He married Maria Magdelena. It is uncertain from whence he came. Some of his descendants are positive he was from Schashaussen, Switzerland, while others claim that he was from the Palatine district of Germany. It is possible that he may have been from Holland, as he is found but a few years later among the Holland Dutch, at Stone Arabia, Montgomery County, NY, where he was the owner of a grant of land.

His son, George Stam, whose place of birth is uncertain, married at Stone Arabia, Dec. 11, 1765, Anna Eva Bellinger. He was a soldier of the Revolutionary having served in the 2nd Battalion (Palatine) in the Revolutionary War.
