Immigrated on the "Pynchon" in 1650 and settled in Springfield, Massachusetts. October 15, 1650 he was indentured to Benjamin Cooley, a weaver, to serve him for three years, six months and some days and for such labor, he was to receive fifty shillings for each year in good merchantable peas at three shillings per bushel and he was to be taught the weaving business provided he will be willing and careful to learn.

Samuel Terry, the second husband of Sarah (Bliss) Scott was in Springfield in 1650, bound to William Pynchon presumably for paying his passage, and by Pynchon's consent bound himself on 15 October 1650 to Benjamin Cooley (to learn the linen weaver's trade) for three years and six months. From this we infer that he would become of age at the expiration of this indenture, and hence that he was born early in 1633. He began trading with Pynchon on his own account, 22 May 1654, which also implies that he was then of age. He married, frist, 3 January 1659/60 Ann Lobdell, by whomn he had ten children, and she died 16 May 1684. He was Constable in Springfield and a man of standing there, but later did not prove a "good provider" to his second wife Sarah (Bliss) Scott and her children.

Henry K Terry wrote in his publication, "The English Founders of the Terry Family" that his findings in search of Samuel Terry's English ancestors were inconclusive. However, "we think that he is probably the son of William Terry, and followed his uncles, John and Stephen, to their home in New England." It is based upon this publication that the relationship between Samuel Terry, The Immigrant" and William Terry has been drawn.
