John was baptized 11 Feb 1631 in the Parish of Great Beddow, Essex, England, and married first about 1653, in Salen Essex, Massachusetts, Mary GOODELL, the daughter of Robert GOODELL and Catharine KILLIAM. She was born 5 January 1630 and died 5 January 1668 in Salem, Essex, Massachusetts. He married second 6 October 1669, Ann CUMMINGS, the daughter of Isaac CUMNMINGS and Margaret ANNE. She was born 1637 in Salem, Essex, Massachusetts and died 29 June 1689 in Enfield, Hartford, Connecticut. John died 8 July 1689 in Enfield, Hartford, Connecticut.
John PEASE came to this country when a lad. The first notice we have of him is found in the court records at Salem, in the settlement of his father's estate, under date of August 27, 1644. He appears to have been a favorite of this grandmother, Margaret PEASE, as shown by her will which was brought into court, soon after action was taken in the settlement of his father's estate. It seems probable that he may have been adopted by his grandmother, before his father's decease. She doubtless had full authority for placing him in the care of Thmas Watson, to dispose of him as his own child, rendering it unnecessary for the court to take any action inrelation to his custody, as in the case of his older brother. He was made freeman, April 29, 1668, by the General Court. He jointed the First Church as Salem to which his father and grandmother had belonged, July 4, 1667. "October 6, 1681, on sacrament day, John PEASE and wife, had a letter of recommendation granted to the church at Springfield. His relation to the church on his removal to Enfield, was an active one, and he stood foremost to assist in maintaining the worship of God on the Sabbath, in the town of Enfield, after it became incorporated. Our ancestor sickened in the midst of making
preparations for building, and died "suddenly, July 8, 1689.
