Fron Sketch on Milo W. BROOKS

John BROOKS, Jr. was born on the old homestead in Winhall Township, Bennington County, on the 13th day of April 1792, and on attaining to maturity wedded Lydia HALE, who was born in the same place, January 21, 1796. They became parentg of eight children but of that number only four are now living, two sons and two daughters. Mr. BEOOKS was a tanner and a shoemaker by trade, but this failing him, he abandoned that pursuit and for twenty years kept an Hotel. He was a man of prominence and influence in the community where he made his home and served both as constuble and collector for a great many years. In early life he supported the Whig party, but joined the Republican part on its organization. In 1856 accompanied by his wife he came to Green Lake County, to make his home with our subject. His death occured January 30, 1877, and his wife died September 22, 1878, Both were of the Universalist faith and were people of the highest respectability.

Note of their eight I have the following:
See the Vital Records of the State of Vermont.

Oldest son; John Hale BROOKS,    b: 12 Jan 1814;
next        Rousina BROOKS,      b:  3 Sep 1816;
then as 5th Child from his Sketch,
            Milo Wilber BROOKS,  b: 24 Jan 1823;
next        Lydia Lucina BROOKS, b:  8 Jun 1827;
From 1850 census there are:
            Ayezel BROOKS,       b:    Abt 1831; age 19;
and         Rosette BROOKS,      b:    Abt 1831; also age 19;
this gives us the names of six of their eight children
and since Milo is stated as child # 5 then there must
be 2 children born between Rousina in 1816 and Milo in 1823.
