Jane was born 10 June 1837, in New York, and married 9 February 1854 in Spring Vale, Columbia, Wisconsin, Cornelius O'BLENESS, the son of Henry O'BLENESS and Lutitia McKIBBEN. He was born 2 January 1826 in Lawrence, Washington, Ohio and died 1902, in Concord, Dodge, Minnesota. Jane died 20 February 1879 in Concord, Dodge, Minnesota, and was buried 23 February 1879 in Concord Cem., Concord, Doge, Minnesota. Cornelius died November 1902 in Rochester, Olmstead, Minnesota, and was buried in November 1902 in Concord Cem., Concord, Dodge, Minnesota.

On Feb. 20, 1879 Jane died after being in labor for 4 days with their 13, child. Here baby son also died.
Concord - Still they come one after another to take up their abode in our silent city. This week we are pained to have occasion to record the death of the very estimable lady, Mrs. O’Bleness. On the 16th ult. she came to labor, & on the 20th expired. We are not able to write all the particulars, but it is a sorrowful case. Mrs. O’Bleness was 43 years old & had given birth to 13 children - 11 still living, the youngest being about 2 yr. old. Few deaths in our community have caused more sorrow, as evinced by the great number that came to witness her burial. The new church bell tolled first for her. She was a member of the church, & it is said that she died in the “triumphs of faith.” In the absence of Elder Truax, Elder Walker conducted the funeral services, assisted by Rev. E. Wescott. The O’Bleness family belonged to the Concord Church of Christ. They lived about 2 miles from the church.
Obit lists Irvine as a surviving child. Don't know if this is accurate.
Cornelius O’Bleness was born in the State of Ohio, Jan 2, 1826 & died Aug. 15, 1904 at Fargo, ND. Age 78 yr., 7 mo., & 13 days. He was married to Jane Griffin, Feb. 10, 1853, who died in Concord, MN in the year 1879. There were born unto them 13 children, three of whom died in infancy. Henry the second son was engaged in driving a stage coach over the mountains of Montana, has not been heard from since 1881 & is supposed to be dead.
Those living are Mrs. I. L. Osborn of Dodge Center, Morris of Mpls., Diantha, Ellsworth, John, Irvin [?], Elmina all reside in Casselton, ND. Jane wife of B. K. Hatch & Anna, wife of J. G. McCarthy of this city.
Mr. O’Bleness was one of the pioneers of Dodge Co. He was a man that was always willing to help one in need.
He was a good father, an excellent citizen & respected by all who knew him. He will be missed from his accustomed place by his children & relatives & friends. We submit to Him who is our Father & our God, who said, "I will not leave you comfortless."
The funeral services were conducted by Rev. Wm C. Lee at the Methodist Episcopal church, West Concord, & the body laid to rest in Concord Cemetery.

Cornelius O’Bleness was born in Lawrence twp. Washington Co., OH on Jan 2, 1826. He was one of 5 children of Henry & Letitia [Letty] O’Bleness.
In the early 1850’s Cornelius moved to WI. He married Jane Griffin, daughter of Seth & Jane Griffin on Feb. 9, 1854, in Spring Vale, Columbia Co., WI. Jane and her parents were all born in NY. Jane was born June 10, 1837.
Cornelius purchased two parcels of land in 1869 while living in Dodge Co., MN - the west 1/2 & lots 7, 8, 11, 12 in Sec. 30, Twp 108, Range 17. This amounted to 240 acres of land. It looks like the 80 acres went for $222 at a sheriff’s auction in 1875 & that the quarter section was sold in the winter of 1879 for $3000 or $4000. This sale would have been just before Cornelius left for South Dakota.
The 1870 census listed Cornelius’ Real Estate value at $3000 & personal property value at $685.
The O’Bleness family belonged to the Concord Church of Christ. They lived about 2 miles from the church.
In the spring of 1879 Cornelius & 9 of his 11 living children moved to Kranzburg, Codington, Co., SD. Two girls didn’t go. Jane, who married Billings K. Hatch on Dec. 6, 1879 & Augusta. James, who was only one yr. old when they moved to SD, died when he was two, on Apr. 3, 1880. Cornelius farmed while they lived in SD, just as he had in MN & WI. Diantha married Clark South of Dodge Co., MN in Nov. 1880.
In 1900 Cornelius is listed as living with his son John, at Amenia, ND. Cornelius died in 1902 when he was 76 yr. old. He had an operation in Rochester. On Oct. 24, 1902 the Casselton Reporter reported he was "fast recovering". He must have died shortly after in Rochester & his body shipped to West Concord. He is buried in the Concord Cemetery at West Concord, MN as is his wife Jane & daughter Jane & her husband B. K. Hatch.
As far as can be determined, with one exception, there are no descendants to carry on the O’Bleness name.
