Seth was born Dec 1778, Turkey Hills, Hartford, Connecticut, the son of Seth GRIFFIN and Mary BROWN and married 1st after 1800, Esther Bradley ALDERMAN, the daughter of Gad ALDERMAN and Happy BUCKLEY or BULKLEY. She was born 12 February 1784, and died 7 November 1835, in Broome, Schoharie, New York.

He married second Jane _______. She died 9 November 1838 in La Porte, La Porte, Indiana. Seth died before 1838, probably in Schoharie Co. New York. My last record of Seth is the 1835 New York census mentioned below and nothing more is known about his second wife Jane ________ who is mentioned in the family Bibles as Jane GRIFFIN wife of Seth with death date and place.

Know ye that I Dudley PETTIBONE of Simsbury in County of Hartford and in the State of Connecticut for the consideration of twenty seven pounds lawfull money Received to my full satisfaction of Seth GRIFFIN 2nd of Said Simsbury Do give, grant, bargin, sell and confirm unto the said Seth GRIFFIN & to his heirs and assigns for ever one Certain Piece or Parcel of Land Lying in Said Simsbury In Salmon Brook Parish it being part of the lot of land where ? Seth GRIFFIN now lives, bounded South on land lately survayed to Pliney MILLES by the propritors committee, west on proprietors land, north on Mathew GRIFFIN land and east on Westfield old road and is in length Easterly and Westerly one hundred and twenty rods, and in width Northerly and Southerly forty one rods and Contains thirty acres of land be it more or less. To have and to hold the above granted bargined premises, with the appurtenances thereof, unto him the said Seth GRIFFIN his forever, to him and their own proper use and behoof. And also I the said Dudley PETTIBONE ------------do for my self & my ------------ heirs, executors and administrators, covenant with the said Seth GRIFFIN his heirs and assigns; that at and until the ensealing of these presents I am well seizid of the premises, as good indefeasible estate in fee-simple, and have good right to bargin and sell the same in manner and form as is above written, and that the same is free of all incumbrances whatso- ever. And furthermore I the said DUDLEY PETTIBONE -------------do by these presents, bind my self and my heirs forever to warrant and defend the above granted and bargined premises, to him the said Seth GRIFFIN.his heirs and assigns, against all claims and demands whatsoever.------

Know ye that we Seth GRIFFIN James KEITS & Ebenezer MILLER all of Granby in Hartford County for the consideration of the sum of two hundred forty five dollars and fifty cents, Received to our - full satisfaction of Gebe ENSIGN & Gaphar ENSIGN both of said Simsbury ---- a piece of land lying in Said Simsbury west of Hope meadow Bounds East and South on Highways west on Joseph HUMPHREYS land and North on a Division lot that was laid out to Elias STATER of Said Simsbury Lines Dear Containing twenty two acres and a half and twenty rods of land exact measure with a Dwelling house thereon Standing.

This Indenture made the first day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirteen between John LIVINGSTON of Oak-hill in the manor of Livingston County of Columbia State of New York Gentleman & Catherine his wife of the first part and Seth GRIFFIN of the town of Broome in the County of Schoharie and State aforesaid Yeoman of the second part Witnessith that the said party of the first for and in consideration of the sum of six hundred ninety seven dollars and fifty cents to him in hand paid by the said party of the second part...... all that certain piece parcel or tract of land situate lying and being in the town of Brome in the county of Schoharie and state aforesaidbeing parcel of tract of land granted by letter patent bearing date the second day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy to John Morin SCOTT and seventy seven others and butted, bounded and described as follows, to wit Situate in the third tract described in the letters patent aforesaid Beginning at a Maple & Stone which is the South East corner of a piece or lot of land deeded to Ozias BIDWELL and also is the South West corner of the herein bounded and described piece or lot of land and from thence North two degrees West forty seven chains and fifty links to a stake in the highway thence North eighty eight degrees East fourteen chains and sixty six links to a stake and Stones, thence South two degrees East forty eight chains and fifteen links to a stake and Stones Thence South eighty eight degrees West fourteen chains and eighty six links to the place of beginning containning sixty eight acres of land. The points of the compuss were taken as the neadle pointed in one thousand eight hundred and two. Together with all and singular the heiditaments and appurteenances to the same belonging or in any wise appertaining;
