Gad was born 5 January 1765, Simsbury, Hartford, Connecticut, and married 1 May 1783, Fairfield, Fairfield, Connecticut, Happy BUCKLEY or BULKLEY, the daughter of Talcott BULKLEY and Esther BRADLEY. She was born 31 May 1763 in Fairfield, Fairfield, Connecticut and died 13 July 1811in East Granby, Hartford, Connecticut age 48. Gad died 19 July 1825, age 61. They are both burried in the East Granby Cemetery located near East Granby Center.

War Rolls. He enlisted, 1 February 1781, for three years in Sheldon's Dragoons; described as a farmer of Sinsbury, height 5 ft. 10 inc., dark conplexion, light eyes brown hair. In 1818 he was a Connecticut pensioner, residing in Massachusetts.
Gad Alderman performed service in the Revolutionary War. He enlisted from Suffield, CN., when 15 years of age, serving at Fairhaven, Connecticut and helped guard the forts of various other places until the close of the war. He received an honorable discharge signed by George Washington, and received a pension from the government for his services during the latter part of his life.

Gad Alderman enlisted as a private in the Revolutionary War, on February 1, 1781, his term of service being three years. He enlisted in Symsbury, Connecticut. He served at and around Fairhaven, Connecticut. His occupation was that of a farmer. He was 5 feet 10 inches in height, had light blue eyes, brown hair and dark skin. He belonged to Sheldon's Dragons, under Benjamin Tallmadge, Major of 2nd Regiment of Light Dragons. This can be verified by referring to the record of Connecticut Men in the War of the Revolution, pages 282 and 640, which may be seen in the Newberry Library of Chicago, Illinois. Gad Alderman's name also occurs in Revolutionary Lists of Returns of Men, on pages 279 and 349 in the same Library. The records state that the said Gad Alderman enlisted from Symsbury instead of Sheffield.
