ASK CARNEGIE HERO
MEDAL FOR YOUTH
Tenants of Building Rescued
by Elevator Boy are Greatful
for His Conduct
The Heroism of Robin Forrest an, eleva-
tor boy, in rescueing 150 tenants of the
Vernon Apartmants, Fifty first street and
Cottage Grove avenue, when they were
imperiled by fire, will be brought to the at-
tention of the Carnegie commission here
and an effort will be made to secure a
medal for the boy.
Young Forrest when fire attacked the
structure ran his car to the top floor
through the dense smoke and rescued 150
tenants. During his last trip he was over-
come but stuck to his task until his car
reached the bottom. He was taken from
the car by fireman and revived.
James A. Forrest, the boys father, who
is a special insurance agent, has often told
his son to stick to his post in case of fire
and when the chance came the boy carried
out the instructions. A petition is being
circulated by occupants of the building
and when completed will be forwarded
to the hero commission at Pittsburg.
