Joseph, first son and second child of Richard CHAMBERLIN and his wife Abigail (WRIGHT), born 18 March 1738, in Northfield, Fairfield, Massachusetts, and married about 1767 in Orange County, Vermont, Ruth PRESTON the daughter of William PRESTON. She was born 1754, in Chester, , New Hampshire, and died 16 October 1831. He died 6 September 1815.

Joseph2[5], (Richard1[4])  b.  Northfield, Massachusetts, March 18, 1738;
     soldier in the  French and  Indian war under Captain John CATLIN,
     1757-58; inCoös 1760; came to Newbury, 1762, grantee of the town;
     ensign 1775, in  Captain Thomas  JOHNSON's company of Minute Men;
     second  Lieutenant,  1777-79, in  Captain Frey  BAILEY's company,
     guarding and scouting; was with that company at Pawlet, August 16
     -October 1, 1777;  1779-81, first  Lieutenant, in  Captain Simeon
     STEVENS' company,  OLCOTT's Regtiment;  private in  Captain  Frey
     Bayley's  company  "in  sundry  alarms"  to the end  of the  war;
     carpenter and some times blacksmith; built the large house at the
     top of the  hill south of  Montebello; m. Ruth daughter of William 
     PRESTON of Chester, N. H., (b. 1745 d.  October 16, 1831.  (Church 
     record).  He died September 6 1815.  Joseph CHAMBERLIN  appears to
     have been a very  prominent man in town and held many positions of 
     trust.

Jonathan CORLISS (1730-76) served as private in the Vermont troops.
     He was born in Haverhill,  Mass.; died in Isleau Noix, Canada.

Emerson CORLISS (1758-1843)  served as private in the  New Hampshire
     Continental Line. He was born in Haverhill, Massachusetts; died 
     in Bradford, Vt.

John HASELTINE served on guard and scout duty in Capt. John BAYLEY's
     company.  He was born in Haverhill, Mass.;  died, 1797, in West
     Newbury, Vt.

David HASELTINE (1759-1824) was a private, 1778, in Capt. Simeon STEVENS'
     company, Col. Timothy BEDELL's regiment, Vermont troops. He was born
     in Hempstead, N. H.; died in Newbury, Vt.
 
Archibald McALLISTER was a signer of the Association Test, 1775, and,
     in 1778,  served as private in the  New Hampshire  Line.  He was
     born in Ireland.

Benjamin MUZZEY (1747-1820) served as private in the Vermont troops
     under Capts.  John BAYLEY and Simeon STEVENS.  He was born and
     died in Newbury, Vt.

     to the close of  the war.  He was born in  Northfield, Massachusetts; 
     died in Newbury, Vermont.

     1776.  He was a member of the Committee of Safety of the first
     Governor's Council of Vermont, and served as Commissary General
     in the northern department. He was born in Newbury, Mass.; died
     in Newbury, Vermont.
 
Joshua BAYLEY  (1753-1841)  served as sergeant in Capt. Frye BAYLEY's
     Company, 1781, Col. Peter  ALCOTT's regiment  for guard duty and
     alarms. He was born in Hampstead, New Hampshire; died in Newbury,

Joseph Chamberlin5 (1738-1815) served as 1st lieutenant in the Vermont
     toops under Capt. Simeon Stevens and Colonel Olcott. He was born
     in Northfield, Massachusetts; died in Newbury, Vermont.

Richard Chamberlin4 (1714-84) was a minute man from Newbury, Vermont.
     He was born in Oxford, Massachusetts; died in Newbury, Vermont.

Jonathan Corliss (1730-76) served as private in the Vermont troops. 
     He was  born in Haverhill, Massachusetts; died in Isleau Noix, 
     Canada.

Emerson Corliss (1758-1843) served as private in the New Hampshire
     Continental Line.  He was born in  Haverhill,  Massachusetts;
     died in Bradford, Vermont.  

John Haseltine  served on guard and scout duty in Capt. John Bayley's
     company. He was born in Haverhill, Massachusetts; died, 1797, in
     West Newbury, Vermont.  

David Haseltine (1759-1824) was a private, 1778, in Capt. Simeon 
     Stevens'  company, Col.  Timothy Bedell's regiment, Vermont
     troops.  He was born in  Hempstead,  New Hampshire; died in
     Newbury, Vermont.  

Archibald McAllister  was a signer of the Association Test, 1775, and,
     in 1778, served as private in the New Hampshire Line. He was born
     in Ireland.    

Benjamin Muzzey (1747-1820) served as private in the Vermont troops
     under Capts. John Bayley and  Simeon Stevens.  He was born and 
     died in Newbury, Vermont.
