Phebe CHAMBERLIN7, [Nicholas6, Er5, fourth son and fifth child of Richard 4 Nathaniel3, Joseph2, Richard1]
Phebe was born between 1795 and 1800 in Rygate, Orange, Vermont, and married about 1920 in Oneida County, New York, Moses REED. He was born about 1789 in Massachuset.
After several years they moved to what is now New York state with a family of three girls and one son and settled in what is now Oneida County, I think about four miles from Utica.
Note one of these girls was Phebe I do not know the names of the other two girls, but the son was Loel CNAMBERLIN of Vernon. Rob.
There was fine water power on Sconondoa Creek and a cotton factory was build there. My mother and aunt Phoebe (CHAMBERLIN) were employed there when quite young. It was here that father (George SHEFFER) became acquainted with my mother. Not liking factory work mother soon became engaged to father. When they were married they moved to Cicaro, where father's brother (John) lived.

Phebe(7) Chamberlain,, daughter of Nicholas(6) Chamberlain, son of Err(5) [Richard(4), Nathaniel(3), Joseph(2), Richard(1)], was born 1795/1800, at Ryegate, Orange Co, VT. I am trying to find proof that she is my ggg gm.
Evidence::
My ggg gm was Phebe ? bn 1795/1800 in VT. She md Moses REED bef 1819. They had at least 7 children. One of them, Syble, married my gg gf, Mason ROSE.
Nicholas CHAMBERLAIN and his wife, Sarah JOHNSON, had another daughter named Polly who married George SHEFFER.
These 2 REED & SHEFFER families are found in various census records living near each other in Verona, Oneida Co, NY; Aurelius, Cayuga Co, NY & ultimately ended up living on adjoining properties in Casco TWP, Allegan Co, MI.
I have in my possession a letter from Gertrude (SHEFFER) TRIGG (g gd of George SHEFFER & Polly CHAMBERLAIN) who had written to my father, John ROSE. In the letter she claims that my dad's grandfather, Simon Mason "Sam" ROSE (gs/o Moses REED & Phebe?) & her father Byron SHEFFER were cousins.
Judging from this letter & the fact that the SHEFFERs & the REEDs were in the same geographical areas in NY & MI at about the same time, I'm guessing that there-in lies the relationship.... Phebe & Polly were sisters.
However, I would like to find a primary or secondary source that would prove that Phebe is the daughter of Nicholas CHAMBERLAIN & the sister of Polly (CHAMBERLAIN) SHEFFER.
