Eri was born about 1773, in Newbury, Orange, Vermont, and married about 1797 in Newbury, Orange, Vermont, Betsey SLY the daughter of John SLY and Ruth BROWN.

3, (Er2, Richard1)John1, born, Smithfield, Rhode Island, 1748; served six weeks on a privateer in the revolutionary war, making three captures. One was a vessel loaded with ivory, which they sold, taking their pay in Continental money, which bcoming worthless they lost their prize. He married Ruth Brown, whose father built the first woolen factory in America. Came to Newbury about 1786, and was a blacksmith there several years; removed to Wells River where he put in the first trip-hammer in use there; came to Ryegate, and bought of the Scotch Company land on which Daniel Heath had begun, now a pasture owned by Hermon Miller, where his wife died 1824, and he died in March 1831. Note from age range we can calculate that Eri was born:
between 1755 & 1774; from the 1800 census.
between 1765 and 1784; from the 1810 census.
and before 1775; from the 1820 census.
Thus when combining the above calculations Eri must have been born after 1765 and before 1774 and
I place him born in the early 1770's or close to 1773
