Lawrence was born about 1570 in Hough, Cheshire, England and married 31 August 1591 in Hough, Wynbury, Cheshire, England, Anne MAINWARING. She was born about 1572 in Peover, Cheshire, England and died about 1675 in , Middlesex, England. Lawrence died 1621 in Hough, Cheshire, England.

Sir Lawrence Smith was born in 1570, in Hough, Chesshire, England. His father was Sir Thomas SMITH (b: 1520 in Hough, Chesshire), and his mother was Ann BRERETON (b: Dec 1547 in Brereton, Chesshire, England.) She was the daughter of Sir William Brereton, of Brereton, knight.)

NOTE: Sir Lawrence was the great-grandson of Andrew de Brereton and his wife, Agnes de Leigh through both his father, Sir Thomas Smith, and his mother, Ann Brereton (Andrew de Brereton was a descendant of King Henry I and William the Conqueror.)

Sir Lawrence married Anne Mainwaring (b. about 1572 in Peover, Chesshire, England) on 31 August, 1591 in Hough, Wynbury, Chesshire, England. She was the daughter of Sir Randle Mainwaring, of Peover in Chester, knight, (d. 19 January, 1620.) Sir Lawrence and Lady Ann had two children:

--- Thomas Smith  b: ABT 1592 in HADLEIGH ENGLAND (MIDDLESEX COUNTY)
--- Stephen Smith b: ABT 1593 in ENGLAND (CHESSHIRE COUNTY)

Sir Lawrence Smiths' ancestry extends back through his g-g-grandfather, Sir Andrew De Brereton (1448) and his wife, Lady Agnes De Leigh. Andrew De Brereton's ancestry in turn goes back to Ralph De Brereton (1197) and his wife, Ada of Scotland (1198), and from there to King Malcom III (1031), King of Scotland, and to Norman Kings Henry I (1068) and William I (The Conqueror, 1027.)

Sir Lawrence died in 1621.
