William was born about 1525 in Ashley, Cheshire, England and married first 1488 in Brereton Clifton, Cheshire, England, Jane WARBURTON the daughter of Piers Peter WARBURTON and Elizabeth WYNYNTON. She was born about 1528 in Arley, Cheshire, England and died 5 March 1627. William died August 1559 in Brereton, Cheshire, England and Buried 4 September 1559 in Brereton, Cheshire, England.
Sir William Brereton, Knt., of Brereton, m. Jane, eldest dau. of Sir Peter " PIERS" Warburton, by Elizabeth Wynynton, his wife, and by her (who m.2ndly, Sir Lawrence Smith, of Hough), and had issue

Sir William, who was buried at Brereton, 4 September, 1559, was s. by his son
1. Sir Andrew Brereton, Kt., living 1460 and 1495.
+ Agnes alias Anne, dau. of Robert Legh of Adlington. They had William, John, Andrew, Matthew,
Johanna, Ellen, Alice, Elizabeth, Catherine and Matilda.
William the eldest son succeeded his uncle Sir William Brereton.
2. Sir William Brereton of Brereton, Kt., chief justice and lord high marshal of Ireland died 1541
in Ireland.

3. Sir William Brereton, son and heir apparent.
+ Ann the daughter of Sir William Booth of Dunham Massey.

1 Proved 27th September 1597. The testatrix was daughter of Sir Piers Warburton of Arley, and married first Sr William Brereton of Brereton Knt., by whom she had Sir William Brereton, created Lord Brereton of Leighlin in Ireland, and five daughters, Mary, Elizabeth wife of Thomas Venables of Kinderton Esq., Jane wife of John Legh of Booths Esq., Anne wife of Sir Thomas Smith of Hatherton, and Susanna. She married secondly, January 20th 1560-61, Sir Lawrence Smith of Hongh Knt., by whom she had no issue.
