She was christened 16 June 1672 in Wollstein, Rheinhessen, Hessen, Prussia. He died about 1710 at sea en rout to New York. His grandson, Johann Nicholas Traver, was a wheelwright in Wollstein prior to leaving for America. He apparently died at sea before he arrived. His widow, Anna Maria Hoffman, and two sons, Sebastian and Peter, were reported settled at the West Camp in Ulster County, New York in 1710. Decendents are known to currently reside primarily in New York, California, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Illinois. I am looking for information on Johann Nicholas' father, Petrus, c. 5/21/1620, and his father, Niklas, and their ancestors. In 1710, through the intervention of the Reverend Joshua Kocherthal, who persuaded Queen Anne of England to sponsor the sorely persecuted Palatine people as workers in the New World. It was intended that they should make pitch and tar for the Royal Navy, but since few, if any, of the Palatines had knowledge of the process, it was doomed to failure. Eventually, they left the camps and set off on their own, settling in what is now Germantown and Rhinebeck, NY. Johann Nicholas Treber, a wheelwright, died during the arduous journey to America and was buried at sea. His widow, Anna Maria, later married Joseph Reichhart, another Palatine.
