Samuel was born about 1738 in Kinderhook, Columbia New York. He married about 1761 in New York, Annatje VIELEN, the daughter of Aernout VIELE and Catrina VAN KUEREN. She was born about 1742.

Samuel and Hannah Livingston lived at Taghkanic / now Copake New York and are buried in the Methodist Cemetery there. There stones have survived – although I am not sure if they still do. There is an old [ca 1910s or 20s] cemetery transcription that shows records from both stones, but when I was there ca 1985 only one of the stones remained and the other was gone. I think it was Samuel's that still stood – but I am not certain.
I do not believe I had realized that Hannah was a Viele. Arnout Viele did some work for Robert Livingston ... perhaps in connection with Livingston Manor. There are some receipts which seem to acknowledge this.
