Pace family in the war of 1812

James Pace enlisted for 3 months from September 24 to December 22, 1813. He was a 1st Lieutenant, in Capt. Thomas Yardley's Company of Tennessee Mounted Gunmen, 2 Regiment commanded by Col. Newton Cannon. Col. Newton Cannon's regiment was part of General John Coffee's brigade and was involved in the first campaign into the Creek nation. Col. Cannon's unit participated in the battle of Tallushatchee in November 1813. David Crockett was at this battle.

On Sept. 27, 1814, the day before re-enlisting, James Pace finally received his military pay for the services of his horse from his enlistment the year before.

James Pace re-enlisted on Sept. 28, 1814 as Captain of Capt. James Pace's Company, 2 Regiment Tennessee Mounted Volunteer Gunmen commanded by Colonel Thomas Williamson. James Pace's enlistment was to end March 28, 1815, but he was killed at the Battle of New Orleans on December 23, 1814. this was a devastating battle for the Pace family, as three men in the family were killed, leaving young widows and families.
Oops! I mis-wrote. At the Battle of New Orleans, James Pace and his brother-in-law John Christian were both killed on Dec. 23, 1814. [Note: He was husband of their sister Edith PACE RF] American losses were 24 killed, 115 wounded. James' brother, John Pace died on Jan 9, 1815, one day after the battle of Jan. 8, 1815 at the plains of Chalmette. American losses at this battle were 13 killed, 39 wounded.
