Peter was born before 1774 in , , Pennsylvania and married about 1793 in , , Pennsylvania, Barbary _______. She was born about 1772 in , , Pennsylvania and died after 1850 in , , Pennsylvania. Peter died before 5 Oct 1822 in Fairbanks, Sullivan, Indiana.

My Gr-Gr-Gr Grandfather was Jonathan Medsker Sr, (1799-1843) of Clark County, Illinois. I have recently discovered that he was born in Pennsylvania. According to family information that has been passed down, his father's name was Peter Medsker. Jonathan settled in Clark County, Illinois from Sullivan County, Indiana in 1828. I found a Peter Medzgar in the 1820 census of Sullivan County, Indiana and think it may be connected. Based on the information I have collected so far, I am thinking that Jonathan b. 1 Jan 1799, John b. 25 Dec 1799, Elizabeth (Medsker) Ransford b. 1803, Catherine (Medsker) Ransford b. 1808, Hannah (Medsker) Harris b. 1810, and David Medsker b. abt 1812 are children of the above Peter Medzgar, and his wife Barbary.
I have recently found Items from the “Western Sun”, a newspaper published in Vincennes, IN from 1804 to 1844. These were found at the website: http://visions.indstate.edu/SCPL.htm, under “Dr. James B. Maples Scrapbooks”. The items were reprinted in an article titled “Historic Items Local Interest”, by James B. Maple, M.D. The location and date of the reprinted items is not listed.

“Ad, May 2, 1825, of sale of Peter Metzker estate locates property three miles from Gordon Town. David Gross, Adm.”
Scrapbook 30-page 65:
“Western Sun, March 22, 1828. Division of Real Estate. Jonathan Metzger, John Metzgar, Emanuel Grimes, George Horner, Edward Rainsford, Richard Tucker, William Hays, John Harris, Samuel Rainsford, David Metzger, Margaret Metzger, and their guardians, legal heirs and representatives of Peter Metzger. Please take notice.
This seems to verify that Jonathan Medsker, John Medsker, David Medsker, Margaret Medsker, Hannah (Medsker) Harris, Elizabeth (Medsker) Ransford, and Catherine (Medsker) Ransford are siblings and children of Peter Medsker (abt. 1773-1822). There seem to be four more daughters who are unknown to me.

I was very interested to find the information you posted from the scrapbooks - particularly the division of property wherein is noted the name of a William Hays. I have a William Hays on my family tree. He was married to a Sarah MEDSKER (I did not previously have any info on her parents). William and Sarah lived in Sullivan Indiana. They had eight children. Nancy, Margaret and Hannah seem to have been born in Illinois 1836 and prior to that year. John born 1838 in Indiana and followed by Peter, George, Emily and William. I think that it is quite likely that Sarah is one of your missing siblings.

Yes, I have since found that William Hays was married to Sarah Medsker. I do not have exact birth and death dates for them, or the location of their graves. If you have them I would appreciate them. If you send me your direct email address, I can send you a copy of the Medsker information from the book I put together a couple of years ago.

I do not have exact birthdates for William and Sarah.
I have William born about 1793 and Sarah about 1809 estimated from Census records and family information. They were from Pennsylvania. This is what made me think they were likely related to your siblings.
William died 25 Nov 1859 and is buried in Drake Cemetery in Sullivan County.
Sarah died before 2 Dec 1884. That is the date that notice was given in the Sullivan Democrat that John Monk would be administrator of her estate.
William and Sarah were members of the Mission Baptist Church.

Mary Medsker (d/o Peter and Barbary) married George HORNER.
Elizabeth married Edward Holman RANSFORD and they appear to have about nine children. I was looking at them on the census records this evening.
Catherine married Samuel RANSFORD about 1827. They show about eleven children.
The RANSFORD boys are sons of Joseph RANSFORD and Rachel HOLEMAN.

By the way -
I am descended through William and Sarah's daughter Nancy HAYS who was married to Job Monk and then to his brother, John Monk. Job and Nancy's son William was married to three different women. Two sisters: Anna R. EVERETT and Hannah Jerusha EVERETT and then he was married to Eliza R. COX mother of my great grandmother, Anna May Monk. Williams first two wives, sisters, were the daughters of Cornelia Early BAKER (daughter of Titus & Jerusha FLAGLER BAKER) Another daughter of this same marriage, Sylva or Sylvia was married to William Medsker, son of John and Hannah GRAUT Medsker.
So there are a lot of twists and turns and people to sort about. Thanks for any help you can offer.
