John O was born about 1837 in New York, and married 4 August 1864, in , Cole, Illinois, Nancy HAYES the daughter of Willian HAYES and Sarah MEDSKER, and widow of his brother Job MONK. She was born about 1829 in Freeport, Stephenson, Illinois and died. John O died 29 March 1877.

The Death Roll

Mr. John MONK Departed this life last Wednesday, [29 March 1877] after a long and tedious illness, Dr. Cushman informed us that his case had been doubtful for over three weeks. We were but little acquainted with Mr. Monk, and hence cannot speak of his life from personal knowledge. Mr. Monk leaves a wife and quite a large family.
