Abraham was Christened 16 August 1787 in Albany, Albany, New York, the son of Heinrich Wellhelm MONK and Esther Maria FREDRICK and married first about 1814 in New York Nelly _______. He married second about 1819 Abigail TAFT the daughter of Job TAFT and Elizabeth BROWN. She was born 7 March 1798 in New Rhinebeck, Schoharie, New York and died after 1860. Abraham died.

This individual lives next door to Henry and Emmeline on the Tippecanoe County, Lauramie Twp. 1850 US Census, page 183. It lists his age as 64 years and his wife, Abigail, as 42 (?) - both born in New York. They have Chester (17), Thomas (14) and John (12) living with them. *These are all the right ages to be Henry & Job's brothers. And also two other children Jacob (21) and Irena (10).
Abraham is also found on the 1840 Fed. Census in New York, Broome County, Triangle. FHL Film #0017179 page 421. Listed Monk, A (see above). with males: 1 (under 5) corresponds to John, 2 (5-10) would be Thomas & Chester, 2 (10-15) correspond in age to Jacob & Job, 1 (15-20) which would be Henry, 1 (20-30) which would be the right age for Mathias, and 1 (50-60) which would be Abraham himself. Then the females: 1 (under 5) Irena, 1 (5-10) corresponding to Betsey [placing her birthdate between 1830 & 1835], 1 (15-20) which would be Lydia, and 1 (40-50) for Abraham's wife Abigail.
20 years earlier on the 1820 census Abraham (listed Abram Monk) is listed among only 4 members of the household. One male 26-45 (which would be Abraham), and one male under 10 (corresponding to Mathias); one female 16-26 (which would be Abigail) and one female under 10 (corresponding to Maria). It is known from the Taft family association genealogist, Neil Todd, that Abraham purchased land in Pharsalia, Chenango County, New York and so it stands to reason that this is the family listed in that same place 3 years later. This information from FHL Film #0193721 page 277. It is also noteworthy that Abraham & Abigail are enumerated next to the family of Job Taft (his father in-law).
