ROY W. McCOOK was born 15 March 1884 in Saline, Washtenaw, Michigan. He married, 21 November 1909, in Essex, Essex, Ontario, Canada, Rachel Evangeline HOUGHTALLING, the daughter of George Edward HOUGHTALLING and Mary Ann RANDALL. Eva was born 8 July 1881 in Cohoctah, Livingston, Michigan. She died 11 August 1949, in Kalamazoo, Kalamazoo, Michigan.

According to the 1910 US Census, Roy was a border at the home of Riley A PAINE'S and employed as a public school teacher in Flushing Twp., Genesee, Michigan .

McCOOK Roy W.. Proprietor "Bonnie Heath" Farm, Breeder of graded shorthorn cattle and Duroc Hogs, S. 23, T. Cohoctah, P. O. Howell. Mr. McCook was born in Michigan in 1884 and came to Livingston County in 1894. He is married to Evangeline HOUGHTALING. Mr. McCook. has served as Superintendent of South Lyon Schools and Principal Flushing School.

The following are excerpts from the News Paper in Decator Michigan:

 
                    8 May 1919 -- Roberts Hardware Sold

    Superintendent of Public Schools of South Lyon, Michigan, buys business
and takes immediate possession. Roy McCOOK Supt. of schools at South Lyon
has bought the hardware store of G. S. ROBERTS and took posession of the
business Monday morning. Mr. McCOOK in company with a hardware merchant of
South Lyon came to Decatur last Saturday and closed the deal.

                              15 May 1919

    Although Mr. McCOOK'S transfer takes place immediately, he will not
come to Decatur until the close of school. In the meantime Mr. ROBERTS will
manage the business. Mr. McCOOK'S brother-in-law, Claude BETTERLY of Howell
is moving to Decatur this week to be employed in the store as clerk.

                              22 May 1919

    R.W. McCOOK of South Lyon spent the week end in Decatur looking after
the hardware business recently purchased from George ROBERTS.

                             12 June 1919

    R.W. McCOOK has completed his work as Superintendent of Public Schools
of South Lyon and came to Decatur the first of the week to take charge of
his business, the Roberts Hardware Store. Mrs. McCOOK and their children
also are here. Their household goods arrived Tuesday and are being moved
into the FOSTER home on East Deleware St.

    The bass season has opened. have you been out after yours?  If you 
haven't you had better look over your fishing outfit and if you haven't 
what you want, come in and look over or stock of casting rods, lines,
baits, hooks, etc. If you want to enjoy fishing get a good outfit, catch
a nice string of fish clean them, and hand them over to your wife to cook.
She will enjoy them as much as you did catching them if she has a 
"PERFECTION OIL STOVE."  We sell the PERFECTION.

About 1926 or 1927 The McCOOKS moved to Kalamazoo, Kalamazoo, Michigan There Roy Waite McCOOK was the manager of the Nehi Botteling Co. and then worked as a Clerk in a neighborhood grocery store.

Mr. McCOOK died 15 December 1946 in Kalamazoo, Kalamazoo, Michigan.
