Jonathan was born 20 December 1682 in Poqunock, Hartford, Connecticut and married 16 July 1729 in Simsbury, Hartford, Connecticut, Martha LOOMIS the daughter of William LOOMIS and Martha MORLEY. She was born 24 February 1704 in Westfield, Hampden, Massachusetts and died 30 April 1804 in South Canaan, Litchfield, Connecticut. Jonathan died 2 October 1754 in Simsbury, Hartford, Connecticut.

"...Jonathan removed to Simsbury and d. 1762 ae 80 or 2 Oct 1757 ae 74 (Simsbury Rec Bk III p. 271). His will filed in Hartford is dated 28 sep 1757; mentions wife Martha, sons Jonathan Jr. and Austin, three daus: Martha Barber, Eunice Phelps, and Margaret Phelps. His wid. md. (2) Jonathan BUTTLES (Buttolph?) (3) Zebulon HOSKINS and d. at So. Union in 1804 ae 100yrs 2m; her daughter Margaret lived to be over 100."
